This is about a third of my yard this year, it’s way worse than it ever has been before. Between this and the ground bees, my yard looks like Swiss cheese.

Is there any way to combat this? Can I just fertilize and seed like usual? Maybe silver lining is the loosened up my soil lol.

I used boiling water about 3 gallons or so . A 5 gallon bucket works well to put the water in . You can throw some vinegar in there too .

Pour it on , and the whole thing collapses . The ants seem to move around year to year so it’s an ongoing thing .

Do what the agricultural professionals do. Purchase Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait, Honeydew formula by Innovative Pest control. Dilute with unchlorinated water 50-50, so as to work slowly back to the queen. Use distilled water because ants hate the taste of chlorine.

Use an Ant-Pro tower – liquid-bait-dispenser. Or just put it in a mason jar and invert it over a kitchen plate. (The tower works way better.)

Works slowly. Beware that if it becomes rancid or grows bacteria, the ants will not like the taste anymore. So purchase a new tower every 3 years, or keep your tower clean and dry over the winter.

We had to deal with thousands of red ants over multiple colonies that sprung up overnight last summer. They will crawl all over you and bite you over and over. I was able to kill off the 2 queens, but won’t be surprised if they return. There’s no escaping ants and voles, you can only hope to keep them at bay. Nature is a complex ecosystem and as long as there’s predators above the pests, it’ll all work out in the end.

I would contact your local pest control company . They know your area and could give some advice . An initial estimate is free . Then decide .

I’ve been mixing 2 parts borax andn1 part sugar in little containers on the ground. They take it back to queen.

  6. Sugar ants will use the same hoes as ground bees. Ground bees are only active for a short alight of time before sealing up their nests. They are also harmless.

Use Andro Ant killer . You have to kill the queen and the mound will die . It works plain simple .

TERRO ant baits. Or make your own with borax and sugar. If that doesn’t work, they may be seeking protein so make a borax and peanut butter bait. They bring it back and it kills the whole nest. Will take 2 days sometimes 3. Be patient. It will work.

Stir them up with a stick and then dump diatomaceous earth on them.

As a kid in the south we’d just drop orange peels on the fire ant mounds and they’d be dead/gone within a week.
