Is there any chance this is a bell pepper? I started these from seed and have had this plant and its neighbor labeled as bell peppers. The bigger baby is on one plant and the smaller is on its neighbor.

    Welcome to Peppergate!

Some years ago a whole bunch of pepper packets from various seed vendors were jumbled. I’ve had banana peppers come from Cal Wonder bell pepper AND jalapeño packets, I’ve had tiny fire-y ones from Marconi packets, I’ve also had what I suspect to be jalapeños from purple bell pepper packets, and my all time favorite- a sweet red bell pepper from a jalapeño packet.

Any seed packets from 2023-2024 I don’t use unless I want to have some lottery picks!

Nope. A few years ago I got a pack of purple bell peppers from a reputable seed company here in Canada. They were actually hungarian wax peppers.

They weren’t bad… But I still want those purple bells 🙁

Not bell. You can taste it now and see if it’s spicy. There are long sweet peppers. I’m growing some.

So annoying. I work at a nursery and our main vegetable grower is still sending peppers that are not what they are supposed to be. It’s been like 5 years now! And it’s one of the biggest growers in California!

They look like jalapeños but they could also potentially be Marconi reds, which are not spicy
