I have two 5yr old dwarf Valencia orange bushes.

For some reason, when the fruiting started,I bagged one solitary orange, which is now twice the size of all the rest.

(I will probably bag everything next year🤔)

But what would cause this?

I’d like the answer this too. I bagged fruit on a navel and tangelo after getting some scale. The bagged ones are ripening earlier and slightly larger (not such a big difference as yours tho).

Hypothesising but it could be shading and retaining moisture or maybe holding ethylene gas around the fruit that makes it ripen, dunno.

Maybe it’s a selection effect, like something special looking about it when it was budding made you bag it? Eg first bud of the season
