I’ve got two bird house gourd growing quite exuberantly in my backyard

And my question is, regarding these lateral vines that are growing off of the main vine.

Do I cut those off like I would with a tomato plant or with a cucumber to focus more growth into the main vine?

Or do I let those continue to grow?

TIA

I grew a lot of birdhouse gourds last year and didn’t thin out the vines. They did great! If it starts to get out of control though you can trim them

Hot take: I don’t prune the suckers on my tomato plants either. I think it nets more fruit production spread across many vines. I’m sure some will disagree and likely have evidence I’m wrong, but it works for me. Trying the same with my cucumbers and Tatume squash this year. 🤷‍♀️
