Hello! I’m still a beginner when it comes to bonsai care but I would like to show my lovely Fangorn (named after the Ent in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings 🤭) and how much it has grown since I brought it home! It’s a Serissa Phoetida.

I got it back in early 2024 (second picture) from a local supermarket. Unfortunately, it was infested with a bunch of worms, which I only found out a few days later when I saw them crawling over the moss and the bark, and when I started seeing some sort of white webs forming around the branches. Fortunately, and after a tough effort and a lot of search online to try to identify what those critters could be, I was able to get rid of them with some pesticide, and no other pest has come back since then.

The third picture is from the first time Fangorn bloomed, in the summer of 2024. Today (first picture), Fangorn is much bigger and beautiful!

I am hoping to learn more about bonsais with this community and hopefully to care for Fangorn even better – since the past couple of years have been based on self taught experience and not enough research. Excited to see where this knowledge will take us! 🙂
