Is my outdoor rosemary dying ?

Hi all!

I bought a pot of rosemary 2 months ago and repotted it immediately. I added some compost. The past few weeks the weather where i live has been sunny and dry, I was wondering if maybe I hadn't watered it enough ? The soil is dry to the touch.

I want to ask if you can help identify if my plant is dying ? And if so how can i save it ?

Thanks a lot!

P.s: I don't garden much, I just have a bush of thyme and oregano in my garden for a few years and they're still well despite my lack of care.

Yes, because that pot is way too small and your rosmary is basically getting cooked.

Repot it in a bigger pot with good drainage and put it in the shade for a month.

Rosemary gets HUGE!! If it isn’t all dried out and crispy, plant that baby in the ground and keep it well watered.

Sadly, I am sorry but yes. You do have a problem there – it should be in a larger pot and will also definitely need some more water. I would recommend that you oplant it in a minimum pot size of 30cm and 40cm would be even better. When well looked after, they can become quite large and ‘bushy’.

Hope this helps and good luck 🙂

Cute pot. Hopefully you can find something else to grow in it.

Oregano and thyme are easy to grow where I live, but unfortunately it gets too cold here to leave rosemary in the ground over the winter. It always dies on me even when I try to grow it in a pot.
