We have been chatting to the team behind the Bring Me Sunshine Garden ahead of the first work starting on the Eden Project Morecambe site this summer.
Garden designer Harry Holding and architect Alex Michaelis visited Heysham on Thursday where they revealed more on plans to create the garden – which is set to be the first part of the long-awaited £100m attraction on Morecambe Promenade.
Harry and Alex also spoke about plans to exhibit a smaller version of the garden at the famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London next month.

The Eden Project said the garden will become a living classroom, community hub and beacon of regeneration, rooted in both the natural and cultural heritage of Morecambe Bay. It will include areas of shelter and seating, and patches for horticulture enthusiasts and local community groups to work on.
Named after the trademark song of Morecambe-born TV comic Eric Morecambe and his partner Ernie Wise, the garden has been created with help from young people from the town.
Some of them joined Harry and Alex at the Greenfingers Community Project allotments in Heysham on Thursday.
Jordan Baker, 25, from Lancaster, Chloe Jane Hirst, 23, from Morecambe, and Amy Hodgson, 23, from Morecambe spoke to us about their involvement in the scheme, and their hopes for the Eden Project itself.

We also spoke to Charlotte Bragg and Gordon Simmonds from the Greenfingers Community Project about their plans to open a children’s club at the Smithy Lane site this weekend.

And we also talked to Alex Blomfield from The Bay: A Blueprint for Recovery – a local nature and wellbeing programme, offering people around Morecambe Bay the opportunity to get outdoors and connect with nature.

Work to install the Bring Me Sunshine garden will begin in summer 2026, with plans to officially open to the public as it bursts into spring colour in 2027, ahead of Eden Project Morecambe’s full opening the following year.
