Last year i separated an airlayer from this grafted nursery Arakawa a bit prematurely. I got carried away as I had success with a Deshojo a month before and I’m impatient. I started with bonsai last year.. learning the hard way.

I’m still hoping it can survive, even though it had minimal roots when I separated it late summer.

I see that leaves are starting to open, but I’m concerned it’s too much foliage for very little roots to sustain? Should I remove some buds or branching or just leave it and hope for the best? Any other advice?

The Deshojo on the other hand have roots growing out from the drainage hole so I’m super happy with success on my first ever airlayer.

Thanks!
