COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – MercyMed Farm hosted its annual free plant party Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event included hands-on gardening workshops, tips for a spring garden and plant-based eating. Free plant giveaways were available. Local vendors attended and people connected with the MercyMed Farm team.
Farmer Keith Sims said plants can bring a community together.
“I think it’s just important that everybody has community, that everybody gets to see each other celebrate plants and things that we eat…things that we grow,” Sims said. “It’s so good for your body, mind, and soul to grow a plant, put it in the ground, and see something outside of you grow. It’s just so important for a community to be rooted in plants and not just vegetables but the flowers, the herbs — everything that brings beauty to the neighborhood.”
MercyMed Farm is located at 3702 2nd Avenue in Columbus.
