Moth vine or false choko. Invasive, not edible, looks a bit like a choko if you’re not used to them. The sap can irritate your skin. The roots are very tough and when you cut it down to kill it, it grows back from the roots.

Compare with real choko, which is easy to grow and goes well in apple pies or savoury sandwich pickles:

Sorry to tell you, but that is Moth vine (*Araujia sericifera*) and is considered an invasive and noxious weed. It can actually suffocate native plants so chuck it out (not in the bush) and get rid of it (sorry for the bad news).

Another vote for moth vine – you can tell because of those ribs on the side

  4. Thanks! Just saw it in passing on a walk and got curious. Not in my garden and now in the bin 🙂

Moth vine. A nightmare if it gets away. When I moved into my house it had ropes of moth vine growing like Tarzan vines between the trees. You have to follow the vines down to the root to get them out and whatever you do don’t let the seed pod burst open.

I have one of these horrible vines in my backyard. I have attempted to dig it out twice now, and it keeps growing back!! 😭

    It’s called a Butt-Plug-Anthus

Dunno but I remember being 10 and my dad taking me to the back yard to help pick about 300 of these fuckers off from a neighbouring tree.

  9. Moth vine. Their flowers are barbed inside, so pollinators like butterflies get their proboscises stuck inside the flower and they end up dying from exhaustion. Disgusting weed.

Take it out. Weed. Makes a lot of mess
