Symplocarbus foetidus – Eastern skunk cabbage.

This location usually has 5 plants, this year only one. There are bears in the area but they haven’t eaten them, there’s simply no sign of them at all. What could be the cause? It’s a protected conservation area so nothing in the environment has changed. They were there as of last summer.
