A Glasgow housing association says it has been left “extremely disappointed” after one of its garden projects was vandalised. New Gorbals Housing Association says plants were also stolen from McNeil Gardens, in the city’s southside.
The housing association says the incident has been “extremely upsetting” to volunteers involved in the project, which also involves pupils from a local primary school.
New Gorbals Housing Association posted to Facebook: “We are extremely disappointed to see that the new Gorbals Grows project at McNeil Gardens has been vandalised.
“Plants were stolen and planters were vandalised, which is extremely upsetting to all the volunteers involved in this project that was voted for by the community.
“Gorbals Grows received funding from the Gorbals Ideas Fund 2025, which has already involved local primary school children who had sowed pumpkin seeds that they were looking forward to reaping for Halloween.
“The project is run entirely by volunteers, who give up their time and expertise to bring gardening and growing skills to the community at no cost.
“The Gorbals Grows project has successfully operated in Riverside for more than two years, which makes this vandalism all the more upsetting.”
