I have a confession to make…I line up a bunch of your podcasts in queue and listen to you for hours. I really wish you'd put all of your devotionals onto Patreon, but my favorite podcasts are of you just talking to me. I like when you have guests, too, but not as much as when it's just you. By the way, I am growing several of these seed varieties already because of you. <3
I grew kajari melon finally last year and it was awesome!
I love ground cherries! And I can get them to come up from seed. But I have had No luck with getting the tomateos to come up. Weird!
I cherish every minute watching you each time you unboxed it’s fabulous therapy for me because you know I have so many seeds in my house… and some of them I don’t even know where they’re at, but they’re here!!
Sugar beets are huge and will need a lot of space in the garden.
I found your videos in a trying time for me. I've been really appreciating your genuineness and positivity. Thank you for being such a light! Really happy to have found your channel and wishing you and your family an amazing year in the garden!!
Danny on deep south homestead grows the jumbo peanuts. ❤️🙏
you gotta tell me how to grill okra!
Oh man, you sold me on the pink okra😅
Also, when you have excess watermelon, freeze dry it in bite size pieces and it’s like cotton candy!!! It’s my kids’ favorite treat!
I hate fuzzy textured things too. I can forgive fuzz on peaches and kiwi, because they are so good. I love your seed reviews. I bless your family and farm.
Ooh… Just in time to listen while transplanting my tomatoes. 🙂 However, I fear I now need more seeds. They have that purple sunflower I really want but have been resisting. Ugh I'm weak. 😂 My husband will likely give me eyes if more seeds or plants show up. 😂😂
I have only bought one, yes one packet of seeds this year. I have had a bunch gifted to me.
But I'm buying most of my plants that take a long time because I was gone during seedling time, my granddaughter was born and I was there for a month.❤
That being said, my seed collection/hoard probably rivals Jess's.😂
Hello there I love your videos I do wish this one came accompanied with photos to help visualize the delicious tomatoes you’re describing💚
There are few things more satisfying than sharing a seed unboxing with you while working in the garden 😊
Ananas noir (Black Pineapple)….great tomato! You're gonna love it!
Thanks for showing up at my house today friend! ❤️❤️
You inspired me to start growing Armenian cucumbers I believe in 2018🤔 I too was very astonished when growing green Armenian on how fuzzy it was… Personal opinion after growing both I like the green one better because I find it’s crunchy or maybe it’s just me. Anyway appeal the fuzz off, and I demolished those cucumbers in the summer lol Oh Jess why do I have such a hard time sprouting ground cherries? I really struggle with that plant and I don’t know why lol
Thank you so much for all the inspiration you bring me. I am not a huge beetle fan but would like to be. I would like to try juicing them. What juice do you use?
Thanks!
I felt that mention of squeaky beans in my teeth. shudders
We tried sixty last last year and they got so sickly in the Georgia heat. They got bought and looked like death about 1 to 2 months before my Roadster and red snapper.
Have you made a list of varieties that you prefer for the Greenstalk?
Have you ever grown the Jing Orange Okra from Baker Creek. I'm growing it for the first time this year.
the reason Dutch Fork Pie pumpkin is not bothered by squash bugs is because it is a moschata and all moschatas will be far less susceptible to the squash bugs
Hi Jess You should try dehydrating slices of watermelon it tastes amazing . 🍉
Every time I watch your videos I plant more seeds. I need advice with melons. I’m coastal zone 9b/10a. I have successfully grown cucumbers and squash but have a hard time getting melons to size up. I’m going to try in the greenhouse this year. Maybe we don’t get hot enough?
Put them all in the garden this year Jess! 😂
I'm interested in the varieties offered at Urban Farmer but am a little concerned seeing so many of what look like AI-generated images on their product page (especially the flower section)… it makes me worried about what's actually going to grow vs. how it looks in the pictures ☹
Ananas Noire is lovely and I make room for it every year. I find it to be very flavorful and tangy.
Have you done one for MI Gardener yet?
I grow anise noir they are perennial in my garden at this point. What I find is they are much smaller than what you think they would be or they struggle in our climate. Im in anderson sc and even though they self seed ever year they are always small and weak
I keep saying I am done ordering seeds, NOT I ordered in the earlt spring from them, veggie seeds and sweet potato slips. I'm excited. I love their tomato seeds. And the DIxie squash my name of course. lol I got Marglobe tomato seeds free from a local yard house clean out after the older lady passed. They were 25 yr old seeds and they germinated. LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO GROW BORING TOMATOES> we need a tee shirt
Great video Jess. I love "Nerding" out with you about seeds. I have a delivery of seeds coming today so this got me in the mood.
Short question, do you prune cherry tomato types?
Hi Jess – FYI! As kids, we were not allowed to eat them, and that they were ornamental only. I'd love to hear this is wrong.
I copied this from Google AI when I entered, "is Chinese Lantern fruit edible for humans":
Yes, the fully ripe fruit of the Chinese lantern plant (Physalis alkekengi) is edible, but only when orange and mature. The berries, often used in salads or jams, have a sour-sweet taste similar to a tomato or grape. Crucially, the husks, leaves, and all unripe (green) fruit are poisonous, containing solanine.
Key Safety and Consumption Tips:
Ripeness: Only consume the vibrant orange berries; they are often best after turning bright orange and falling off the plant, says this Reddit thread.
Safety Warning: Unripe, green fruit is toxic.
Preparation: The papery husks (the lantern) are not edible and should be removed.
Taste: They are sour, highly nutritious, and high in vitamin C.
Oh boy, I'm going to have to check these guys out for sure! Not that I NEED any more seeds, but I need some more seeds?!!? Yes.🍆🥀🌻💮🥀
I’m also growing Ananas Noire again this year. I absolutely love them and they are beautiful and yummy 😊
I love to bake ground cherry scones. Sooo good!
Excellent haul! Can’t wait to try this company. 😊
I grow a green tomato called emerald evergreen and I thought it was also a lighter tasting maybe not even very good tomato. Well I started leaving them on the vine until the shoulders got a yellow hue and they softened some and oh my let me tell you they have become one of my favorite garden tomatoes. They have the same depth of flavor as a red tomato.
Watching from the Caribbean we have two types of spinach Amaranth (standing spinach) and we have one that runs like a vine.
I'm also planting sugar beets, but it's because I saw a reel somewhere of someone on the street peeling and cutting up a roasted sugar beet and serving it and I just need to know what that tastes like
