Last month I asked for advice on talking my neighbors into keeping their tree. I talked to them, finding out it’s interfering with a retaining wall and though mostly they don’t like the mess.
Arborists of Reddit, what are your thoughts on the tree? From what you can tell, is this a good move?
How long would it take me to grow an equally large tree in the adjacent yard?

Are you talking about the tree with the janky trunk, immediately next to hardscape, with lines going through it?
Yeah that’s a reasonable removal and not really your place to convince them to keep it.
From a new 24” box it would probably take a decade to get to the same size.

They’d rather destroy something that would take decades to get back, increases the value of their house, and lower their bills, because they don’t like the mess?
That seems crazy to me.
More like 3-6 decades.
