Probably. That area could just scar over if you get it re-rooted/re-established.

I think it will scar over and live.

Dust the wound with sulfur, allow it to dry for a couple of weeks to heal, and replant.

It’ll always have a scar, but it should be able to keep on growing!

Last week I got downvoted to shit for recommending a user just take a chomp out of his opuntia, and here we are now with a cactus with a chomp out of it.

You can only blame the dog for so long, OP, howd it taste?

Yea as long as it doesn’t get infected it’ll be fine

I’m sorry but it looks like you just took a bite out of it like an apple, this picture has me rolling 😂 I hope your lab is okay, and I’m sorry that happened.

As others have said it can probably make it, I had to cut a bunch of rot off a cactus last year, I dusted the wound with cinnamon and it’s still kicking now.

Yes. Consider it a future character scar on your cactus

Yes, let it dry and scar over, you can use powder sulfur as an antibacterial to make sure it doesn’t rot while it’s healing

Should be fine but it will just look ugly. Keep it dry for like a week or two so the wound can callus over. Then you can re-plant it.

If you don’t have sulfur powder at home , cinnamon is home substitute

It’s 100% salvageable…dust it with sulphur and let it dry and callous over. You can replant an go back to watering as scheduled.

Yes but let the wound dry first, wet wounds are 100% lethal from what I’ve learned
