These four very long but very leggy vines were growing out of that little hanging basket so I decided to cut them off, stick them in soil and see if they’ll survive since I’ve seen plenty of other people here have success sticking them straight into soil.
For context, I snipped below where I could see plenty of little nodes, sat those ends in water for 5-10mins and then dipped them into rooting powder about two inches deep before planting. There is another several inches of each vine below soil as well.
This is what it is looking like after about 10-12 days? I’ve been keeping the soil moist but not wet. I’ve been using blue grow lights to try to promote root growth. Even with this little humidifier near it, giving the leaves a little mist twice daily, wrapping nodes further up the vines in wet cardboard and re-wetting those each day, and spraying the coco pole every couple of days, it still looks like the leaves are drying out.
Is it normal to lose half (or more??) of the leaves in this situation or am I fighting a losing battle? Any advice genuinely appreciated, thank you!
PS yes, I know now this is not a moss pole. I learnt this after replanting them. Beginner plant-parent error.

Nah he’s a goner. Sorry OP
I don’t think it’s a lost cause just yet, but this set up isn’t doing you any favors.
At this point the leaves are goners unfortunately. I’d snip them all off. Then I would chop up all the vines. Snip them in-between each node and set them up in a prop box until they root, or you can try and water prop them. I haven’t tried water propping when there’s no leaves.. but when they finally grow roots you can plant them all together in a new pot for a bushy plant, plant them with the original plant they came from to fill out the pot or plant them all individually in small pots if you want individual plants and vines.
The vines are wayy to long to prop, especially in soil. It’s using all of it’s energy to keep the leaves alive instead of rooting.
Chop everything up and propagate everything properly, including bare stem.
I’d take some cuttings asap
