Bought some red osier and grey dogwoods from Mason State Nursery, and they just arrived today. Each bundle of 25 was $15 plus $8 shipping, so $46 total. I had fairly low expectations, given what I've gotten as seedlings from commercial growers… but holy heck did these exceed what I was expecting. These are approximately 4 feet tall from base of stem to top, nice roots, thick healthy seedlings. Definitely ordering more while they have stock available, and going to be adding other state nurseries to my calendar for when they open up their next shipping seasons.

A relative is getting his shipment from IL this week. He got some great stuff! He also got the gray dogwood. I’m thrilled things are arriving so healthy.
Virginia’s sale is still up and shipping (not 100% native) [*https://buyvatrees.com/shop/*](https://buyvatrees.com/shop/)
My state sells invasive white mulberry because they don’t know how to ID trees!

Make sure to follow the directions for sweating them before planting! It really makes a difference
unfortunately Ohio’s state nursery isn’t open to the public. They are solely focused on state property currently.
BUT Franklin county (where Columbus resides) has a great annual sale for shrubs and trees.
I got 10 American hazelnut for $20
5 amelanchier arborea (serviceberry) for $13
5 Hop Tree for $13
And they also sold inoculated logs with shiitake mushrooms for $20
I recently made a post with all state nurseries (that I’ve found) and their order links:

Many will ship out of state.
In Michigan, the state doesn’t sell to the public, but the county conservation districts do, and some of the watershed organizations as well.
Holy smokes thanks for sharing! I also placed an order from Mason State for red osier. Was dying to know what to expect and then here pops up your post! Now if the rain will just lay off for a bit, I can hope to get them in the ground in a reasonable time.
Ah dang I almost missed this!

If you’re in Arkansas, we are over halfway through free tree Fridays. You can get up to 5 free trees. You can select from pecan, sycamore, overcup oak, and Shumard oak
Other states may have similar programs. They never advertise them well.
