We’ve had some wonderful weather this spring and have been cracking on with more outdoor projects. In this week’s episode we return to the garden wall project and build a set of steps down to the veg garden.

These steps will be in a very similar style to the ones we build last year, using materials left over from that previous project: risers built from rustic pieces of limestone and capped off with “pedra amarella” yellow stone.

It was a long and tiring project – in some very warm temperatures – but it was nice to tackle something we’ve done before. Follow along and let us know what you think of the end result!

  1. It bugs me that you have to explain EVERYTHING on air before someone "notices" or criticizes your great work. Soldier on lovely people. 💌

  2. Guy and Kylie …. These aren’t just steps…. These are steps that were first “designed”, then the ground was prepared, materials were transported to the site, lots of hard work together with some last minute adjustments and finally THE reveal !! They are unique and very well built … and they have the WOW factor in the garden 👏👏👏👏👏👏 well done you stalwarts 👌👌 DurbanSA🇿🇦

  3. The steps do look great. You two work together so well. Question, what is the tool called that looks like a shovel but is at a 90 degree angle? We have nothing that looks like that in the States.
