Hi everyone! I've had this pine in my collection fc about 3 years now in Barcelona (Zone 10a).
It was repotted at the beginning of February and it has responded very well, showing healthy growth.
My plan is to move forward with structural pruning and wiring later this year to begin defining its shape.
Before I proceed with the major styling, I'd appreciate some expert opinions:
-
Age appearance: Based on the bark and trunk, how old would you estimate this tree to be?
-
Quality/Value: I'm curious about its current market value to understand the quality of the material I'm working with.
-
Future Styling: Any advice on improvement, design, or specific techniques for this specimen would be more than welcome!
I want to make sure I apply the right techniques for its maturity level. Any help identifying the specific species would also be great.
Thanks for your help!

The way online sellers price stuff? 3000 dollars and some sucker will hopefully buy it. In real life? I would assume somewhere in the ballpark of 100, maybe up to 150. It’s a nice tree for sure
age of the tree doesn’t really matter but a lot of beginners and normies fixate on, that tree could pretty easily be grown from seed in 10-15 years, the bark doesn’t really look older than that. if you were selling it to a bonsai hobbyist, maybe $200 ish, more than that if selling to someone else
Ten years old and 120 dollars

Why not drive to Tarragona and visit Mistral Bonsai. Maybe they can give estimate 🙂
Looks like a great tree. Great shape.
Will look better cleaned up and trimmed. Very busy at the moment. Not enough breathing room between the branches and leaves.
Again, beautiful tree.
