Throwback Thursday to phase 3 of a Richard Miers Garden Design project in Norfolk. With the front garden finished and the side garden becoming the rill garden it was time to tackle the back garden that was just lawn leading out to parkland. A large terrace the length of the house gives ample entertaining space then the central canal reflects the light and sky onto the ground in full view. Symmetrically arranged around the reflecting canal is a row of standard roses planted within structural evergreen forms. Outside of the roses is a double herbaceous border, backed by Yew hedging with buttresses to provide visual rhythm, structure and seclusion to private seating areas. The garden then flows out into the landscape and the parkland beyond with an estate railing fence keeping the sheep from entering and eating the flowers. I love my job!
