This is the first time Iβve bloomed my Paphiopedilum delenatii, and the first time ever blooming a slipper orchid!
The single flower is soft and fluffy with lovely details and color, and the spotting inside the pouch is likely irresistible to bees. π
Since this is the Dunkel variation, meaning βdarkβ in German, both the leaves and flower are a deeper, more intense color. The leaves are a whimsical mosaic of greens bordered by blacks, and the flower possesses a stunning cherry red pouch. π
Perhaps the real cherry on the cake though, is the fragrance which is an uncommon trait in slipper orchids. The fragrance is a delicate floral experience, smelling specifically of Damascus rose. πΉ
I would highly recommend this slipper orchid as a beginner species, for both its ease of care, and its satisfyingly fast spike development.
Congrats! You got a really nice one there. Glad yours was fragrant as well, since I think it can vary with this species (and I personally love the fragrance of mine).

Congratulations on the bloom! She is gorgeous and elegant π I really like the closeup of the leaves too. I can practically feel them from just watching the video lol
I should try slippers again later this year π€
