I got this cutting from a friend and rehabbed it from a single leaf. I recently learned how figs should split into two branches when chopped, and I’m assuming that it branched one way and not the other. Is my only option to chop and start over?

You could try notching a couple of nodes before that split off. Doesn’t always work, but I’ve have success with one of the 3 attempts. It also worked on a ficus elastica I have.
I wouldn’t. The stronger the plant, the more likely you are to get multiple branches near your cut point. If you cut it now, most likely you will only get a single branch.
