We did not plant this! I think maybe we got some seeds from something we ate in our compost and it popped up when we worked the compost in. I’m assuming it’s a type of cucurbit but I don’t know what!

Looks like a squash. Zucchini maybe. It will flower soon and you will be able to tell. Lots of possibilities for the variety. My yellow crookneck looks similar.

Hard squashes are the usual suspect. Pumpkins get thrown in the compost- and they like it there. Their seeds are in heaven. But bottle- and birdhouse- type gourds are also possibilities.

With the white leaf pattern, I’m guessing zucchini

It’s a courgette plant. I HIGHLY recommend you keep it, you’ll get so many courgettes 😊

Looks like my grandmother’s butternut squash.

My money is on a type of squash plant. Looks kinda like my baby squash that are growing on my patio. The leaf pattern is very similar to my squash plants. Just a hunch. Volunteer’s are a mystery and can be fun to see what they produce.

The white pattern is typical of cucurbita moschata, the family of butternuts, tancheese, and so on. The fact that it looks bushy is quite uncommon. Maybe a butterbush?

You should be able to figure out once you get some female flowers.

Volunteer squash can be toxic. If it tastes bitter, spit it out.

Some kind of summer squash. Probably zucchini. The white stuff is normal variegation.
