With families watching budgets closely these days, Lowndes County high school students participated in the Financial Literacy in Progress (FLIP) workshop on March 26.
Urban Regional Extension Agent James Lewis and Extension Specialist Dr. Dorothy Bandon reminded attendees that saving and making wise choices with money are key. Lewis shared some questions that he received from young attendees included, “How do I start investing at 17” and “How do I save for a big purchase like a car?”
Lewis told the group that it is important to remain credit worthy, “Keep debt to income under 36%, know what is on your credit report, and remember that credit worthiness is based on trust. You earn it, and you can damage it. You can also rebuild it over time. Once you have good credit, nurture it and protect it,” Lewis stated.
