i got this echeveria in plant mail four days ago (last photo attached). planted it in dry soil, did *not* water. the temperature today reached an upwards of 39°C and my plants face a giant south-faced glass window. all the other plants i recieved are alright.

my questions:

  1. can heat or humidity cause it to rot like this?

  2. can any soil dwelling pests cause this?

i have salvaged whatever i could. does anyone have any other suspicions? i just want to get to the bottom of this. any, *any* insights appreciated.

If you’ve had it four days and didn’t water it then it had root rot already when it arrived. Did it come in dense wet nursery soil?

Otherwise only thing I can think of is you caused damage to the roots when you repotted and that let in an infection that spread rapidly.

Those temperatures shouldn’t be the end of the world for succulents unless it was also very humid.
