Landscaper topped it all up with mulch before I moved in but very little soil (leads to mostly clay). Any natives that can survive in mulch with very little soil or do I just go for large pots? Option for me to add more soil to dig in but don't have all the space for all equipment needed (narrow block). TIA ☺️🌻🌞

Dig around, put in some soil and plant with some ground covers.

    I would go with:
    1) a ground cover that weeps down the face of it, eg Cousin It or tricolour jasmine

    2) something like Lillypilly that can be hedged. You can make it fairly thin.. not sure how thin your space is though

  3. you only need a ladder or a trestle table, remove the mulch, top with garden soil, you can buy bags from bunnings, re-add the mulch then plant native flowering ground covers that will trail down. You could also use S hooks to hang hanging baskets off the top of retaining wall.

~2m high cut at the back? Was that engineerd?

Id plant something that falls over the wall to hide it , something like a grevillea

Consider Dichondra argentea Silver Falls, very nice cascading plant, topping with some soil is always a good idea but you can always see how you go by mixing some gypsum and organic material

Dichondria silver falls would look lively, myoporum another option. I would plant on edge to cascade down.
