This morning I checked on my container garden plants and saw two perfectly healthy tomato plants but I came out around 5pm and found them like this. These plants would be the second and third time this has happened. Less than two weeks ago another had a similar issue. No evidence of anything above the soil and a clean cut across the top. Can't find any of the tops around. The plant in the barrel type container about 3/4 of a foot high each. The one in the jug was a cutting taken from the one that I lost awhile back that I was maturing.
Any ideas?

Animal is biting off the top.
Groundhogs
Could be birds. They like to pull young plants up and leave them there for fun. If they can’t pull they cut
I would put netting around them to keep out
Edit: talked to my wife who happened to look out the window during my 1pm meeting who said she saw a darn squirrel munching on some leaves. Sounds like that’s the culprit.
I just sprinkled chili flakes all over EVERYTHING that’s not mint or marigold. I also sprinkled it in my new bird feeder that they have taken over.
I’m just desperate to make these suckers leave me alone 😔
An eaten tomato plant.
Delicious microgreens. Thanks for the meal!
happened to one of my atomic grape. pissed me off. just chomped the top off. didn’t even look eaten. just severed. 😒
