The other night we had our first calf born on our homestead, momma cow Gabby (who we raised from bottle feeding) was having a hard time (a 5 hour labour that was interrupted half way through by a goat birth in the same barn!) and when the final stages of pushing were happening I could tell she needed a little help getting past her calf’s head. It all went successful and was an amazing experience, I feel like a real homesteader now! Here’s the video link to a YouTube short I made from immediately after the calf’s birth (fyi is name is Spark since his daddy was a Speckled Park 😂)

Just to be clear…a steer is a castrated male bovine. This is a gorgeous, beautiful bull-calf! And he is awesome- congratulations all the way around!
