The free, family-friendly event will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. in the Leach Teaching Gardens, 556 John Kimbrough Blvd., College Station.
Visitors can celebrate spring — and the pollinators that make it possible — through hands-on activities, educational stations and blooming seasonal displays.
The event will provide guests of all ages the opportunity to explore various horticulture, ecology, and agricultural demonstrations and activities, said Kat Grier, education and outreach coordinator for The Gardens.
Event includes popular butterfly release
The event will conclude with what has become the highlight of the annual event — the release of 450 butterflies.
“The release includes several butterfly species native to Texas,” Grier said. “These butterflies will be at home among the plants in The Gardens that attract and host pollinators such as butterflies, bees and migratory birds.”
There will also be a Sensory Free/Quiet Zone during the event for anyone who may want or need a quieter environment at any point during the event.
Light refreshments will be available as well as educational demonstrations, gardening resources and crafts.
Free event parking will be available in Lot 100C or Lot 97. Directions and related information are available at The Gardens transportation page.
