So I have a few herbs and repotted them out of the little plastic ones they came in. I left a lot of space at the top, do I need to add more? Is it fine how it is? I’m new to this 🥲
I think they need more potting soil. Soil settles over time and filling almost to the top helps. A couple of these herbs are already not getting as much sun because the bulk of their leaves are below the rim.

Fill the pots to the top

Aside from the other comments around adding more soil, start pinching your basil. It will encourage more vegatative growth and slow down from it blooming.

Once you get some more soil you should be good to go. I have noticed terracotta dries out fast AF, so watch out for that.

Aside from what the other commenters said, putting more soil would also allow the plant to get more light as more leaves would be exposed to the sun.

Need more soil and compost. Probably a bit of blood meal (plant food as well)

You need to add more soil if you want good results

I would google how to harvest basil. Just so you can keep them going all summer long

I would use larger pots, those are okay for now but in a couple of weeks they will be wanting more root space. You can get away with small pots for most herbs, but these really look too small. Unless I’m seeing it wrong. Are they in at least 8 inch pots (measured across the top rims)?
And I’ll repeat everyone else’s advice to fill the soil to the tops.
