Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on my begonia.

I noticed the leaves starting to droop and some stems turning yellow, so I looked into possible causes and thought it might be overwatering or root rot. I decided to repot to check the roots and improve the soil. (Since having her for over a month, I’ve water three times. The first time was when I first got her and she responded great, second and third times were when the top soil was completely dry, but it didn’t do anything. She’s also in a self watering pot, so when I say I watered her I mean I put water in the bottom for her to drink.)

When I removed it from the pot, the soil was in rough shape. The bottom was extremely wet and compacted, basically a dense brick, while the top layer was dry. It seemed like it had been planted in mostly straight dirt (which is how I got it).

I repotted using the original soil but mixed in vermiculite, peat moss, and earthworm castings to help with drainage. The roots didn’t appear to have rot because they weren’t mushy nor had any black parts.

But today I’m seeing more drooping leaves, which has me concerned that I may have made things worse. She went from having 3 drooping leaves to 5 and it looks like more will follow suit.

What should I do next? I know it could be shock from being repotted, but could it be something else instead? Should I leave her be or try to water her?

Any advice would be appreciated!
