There are 50 native species of milkweed in Texas that will not get you scolded. Only one species that gets well deserved scolding.

I am sorry you have been the victim of post-tropical milkweed trauma disorder. You may be entitled to compensation.
I have a bunch of these, as well as antelope horn and zizotes. When the monarch butterflies came through, they only laid eggs on the antelope horn and zizotes, but when I started moving caterpillars around, it turns out they absolutely love to eat these Texas milkweeds. They walked off the zizotes to eat them. Not sure why the females didn’t prefer Texas milkweed for egg laying.
