Can anyone help me solve the mystery of what is eating my Dahlia plant? There are tiny black eggs or droppings but no other clues. I thought it might be some caterpillars but can’t see any around. I would also love some recommendations on how to ward off said hungry bug to encourage the plant to grow. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

I had a little taste , sorry
I will go back to your bins
Probably slugs. They come out at night and devour. You can lay down pellets. If you have pets some brands of slug/snail pellets are pet friendly.
It was me sorry
Its caterpillars. The black “eggs” are their droppings. Look very closely on what remains of the dahlia for caterpillars. Otherwise they have mostly likely been eaten by birds.
The dahlia will recover. (It has a large tuber underground.)
