I recently got my first Pothos clipping from my mom. I dont know too much about plants and typically go for the low maintenance ones that still thrive on neglect (like my snake plant thats been going strong for years) but ive become more interested in plants lately and want to try taking care of different ones. Im wondering if this spot I have my pothos is too close to the window? Its a SW facing window with a good amount of light. Also, ive noticed two of the leaves look like theyre curling a little bit and im not sure if thats normal? Any advice for this newbie plant owner is appreciated! 🙂

SW with a good amount of light is fine, pothos will thrive in just about any level of light. They prefer indirect though as not to dry out.

Leaves curling from a cutting can happen. ITs important to keep the roots clean and watered. Check for any fungus or rot growing on the stems. Roots should start in about a few days to a week.

It’s hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like the nodes (the little brown bumps on the stem) on one are possibly not submerged? If that’s the case, make sure they are in the water. This could be the cause for the leaf curling. If they’re submerged on both plants, the curling may simply fix itself after they get used to their new home. Sometimes they just drop a leaf or two in the beginning stages of propagation. They’re incredibly resilient, though, so don’t stress about it.

If you plan to put it in soil eventually, wait for secondary roots which are roots that grow off of the main roots. I use a mixture of indoor potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite in a 1:1:1 ratio.

You can also put it closer to the window. They enjoy a lot of bright indirect light. A couple of mine get about an hour of direct sunlight a day and do fine.
