I was just thinking about how easily these cacti propogate. If carefully managed how long could a population of clones survive? What the longest surviving clone we're aware of?
Shamen in South America have been passing cuts from one to another for generations. Could be thousands of years. 🤷

It’s not going to be the oldest but I’ll get the ball rolling. I have an unnamed pure scopulicola, taken from a plant that was brought to Australia as a cutting in 1978.
Can’t imagine a lot that are older or more known than the AD001 no?

Something in the Andes no one in the US knows about.

As already mentioned, not one of the US clones. I think Jaimie Alberto is or is estimated to be 150 years old, but thats the oldest I am aware of

My grandmother had a “hippie” give her a cutting in the early 70s, she took a cutting to each house she’d moved between over the years. The cutting she has given to me I’ve been able to give cutting to friends with.

FR991 is the scop collection taken by Ritter during his expeditions. That was 1959. All other scops are descended from that scop collection in 1959, so FR991 has to be one of the oldest I think

San juan bautista (sjb) bridge, brought to california missions in the late 1700’s. I have many plants growing, super long spines.
