HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – The Mississippi State University Pine Belt Master Gardeners (PBMG) invited the public out for their spring garden day.
Speakers came to teach visitors more about the art of gardening and tips for experienced and new gardeners.
This year, lessons covered water gardens and landscaping for planting.
Members of PBMG say events like this are really important for experienced or upcoming plant lovers.
“A lot of our vendors are really good to talk to, to learn and get advice, so we have this event for the public twice a year to help educate the population,” PBMG President Patricia Holliday said.
“I look at plant material like the clothes on our body. There’s got to be a structure there to put the plants in, and that could be sidewalks, patios, gazebos, harbors, fences, or whatever,” retired landscape architect Richard Chandler Griffin said.
The second garden day will be in September.
