This week temperatures in Greater Manchester are ‘hotter than Ibiza’ according to the latest forecasters. The Met Office predicts highs of 21C in some parts of the city region, not bad considering it’s only the start of April.

The warm weather is welcome news for families with kids off school this week for the Easter break. But if you’re still working today then all hope isn’t lost as it’s set to be a mild evening, with sunny intervals forecast until 7pm.

Conditions like these call for a beer garden visit, afterall there’s nothing better than enjoying a crisp pint in the sun after work. Given that the weather is set to take a turn tomorrow, it’s worth getting outside and making the most of it while we can.

Across Greater Manchester are dozens of beer gardens where you can enjoy al fresco drinks, all in different shapes and sizes. There are rooftop bars like YES where you can sip on your drinks and admire the ever-changing skyline, then there are canal-side spots like The Wharf which is jam-packed during the summer months.

But there’s one city-centre pub with a charming beer garden where you’d least expect it. Having opened in 2023, the Victoria Tap has acquired a loyal customer base thanks to its great selection of beers and tram-track views.

Located inside Victoria Station, it’s the last place you’d expect to go for a beer garden. But the Victoria Tap has a gorgeous outdoor space where punters can lounge on bean bags on an artificial lawn and watch the trams snake in and out of the station. There are rows of benches and tables too so there’s plenty of places to relax with a pint.

The beer garden is designed to be used in all-weathers, which quite frankly is a necessity given Manchester’s reputation for being rainy. Yet it’s extra special when the sun is shining.

If you struggle to find a spot in the beer garden, or would rather stay inside, then the interior of the Victoria Tap is just as charming. It features lots of clever design details which reflect its location, such as the pub’s keg dispenser being made from old steel tracks.

The walls are also decorated with photos supplied by the Manchester Locomotive society and the Railway Heritage. For those with a train to catch, there’s a display board with live train times for Victoria Station. When it is time to head home, it doesn’t get much easier given the tram platform is just a few strides away.
