Hello,

I had seen “zebra haworthia” in the past, and had always thought they were cool plants, but never really paid them much attention. Then I saw a random picture of a large specimen plant, and I was blown away how cool they look (for some reason I had always assumed they stayed small and unremarkable).

This lead to me reading up on them, and seeing all the different species, and becoming obsessed with windowed haworthia. I then made the mistake of going to a local garden center that has a large selection of cactus and succulents. They had few cool ones that I got dirt cheap, compared to my typical addiction (orchids). Then I made the mistake of looking on Etsy, eBay, found a collector in my area….and now I over 30 plants…..and more on the way. I’ve also started adding Gasteria, and some Astrophytums to my collection as well. 😩

My question is: is there any hope for me now? Is it over? Can this be stopped? Or do I just succumb, and accept my new fate?

thanks for any help you can give!

As someone who started out with 3 plants, yes this is your new fate. Embrace it 🤗

Accept your new fate … I too started with a simple “zebra plant” and now have a couple hundred lol.

Invest heavy in haworthia, and lightly in astrophytum. Haws are nearly impossible to kill, and asterias will just spontaneously rot for no reason whatsoever lol

I too started with a zebra haworthia 😩

Haworthias to Gasterias to Astrophytums to Ariocarpus to Lithops to Lophlophora. It never ends….

Yes, welcome. I started out with 3 plants and now have a room dedicated to them. Good luck!

Haworthia are awesome – super diverse, reasonably cheap (compared to Arios, copiapoa etc) and pretty resilient plants! Dive in and join the crew, it’s a good time!

A zebra was my first haw as well. I have like 12 various haworthias/haworthiopsis now. I’m slowly becoming more obsessed since they do well for me without grow lights. Welcome
