I have a chokecherry tree next to my house, I have a strong suspicion that this is too close to the house (less than a foot) and trying to decide if it should be taken down. (I didn't plant it, it was here when we got the house)
I’d say too close for sure . Roots can compromise waterproofing on your foundation wall and you’ll always be pruning that tree away from house . Trees hanging over house fill eaves and shingles dont last as long either

Tree doesn’t owe ya anything so I’d gas it and pick different landscape material

Too close, even now. Imagine that tree becoming bigger—it’ll damage your house eventually. Remove it.
But the thing is, a tree compliments your house very well. You should definitely plant a nice tree of your choice a couple of metres away from your house.

Chokecherry don’t tend to get very large; just prune the branches away from the side of the house/roof and you should be fine. Very unlikely to damage your house — enjoy the shade it provides

Aside from all the comments saying it’s too close, which it is, I don’t even think this is a chokecherry. The leaf arrangement is wrong and the bark looks incorrect for the species, not to mention the general growth habit is also strange for that species.
