Hey there! My name is Abby and over the last few years I have renovated a MAJOR fixer upper house!! With the help of amazing friends and family, we have successfully fixed up this old house and turned it into my dream home. I hope you will enjoy seeing this renovation from start to finish. It was an incredible learning experience, as I had ZERO construction skills or knowledge when I started this process. Now we continue the journey of landscaping, gardening, construction projects, home design & decor, organization, and just life!! It is a grand adventure and there is always something to do in the life of a homeowner! I am just a girl with a drill and a dream.

  1. Abby, plant some hollyhock on the side of your shed. I think you will love them they grow tall and come in pretty colors, just a thought ❀

  2. You might want to plan a nice sunny spot for a cut flower garden…like zinnias which come in a variety of colors and shapes. Just a thought because you seem to like having cut flowers in your kitchen and dining room. Y'all have a Happy and Blessed Easter.

  3. You can put culverts in your ditches and once covered your yard will be level to the road making it much easier to mow.

  4. Abby your drive
    Way maybe in
The future, line your drive way
    With beautiful
    Magnolia trees,
    Or the trees of

    Your vlogs very

  5. Ok, flagstone patio i can imagine, a pergola, farmhouse table
    For friends an
    Family to enjoy
    With a cozy fire
    Pit, an night
    Lights hanging
    Up😊😊❀❀

  6. Abby it might be better to put potted plants in your window box rather than putting dirt in it if you don’t have a plastic liner to fit it.

  7. Put cardboard in the ditch to kill the weeds and probably grass and then put stones on top of the cardboard and then you won't have to worry about for a long while.

  8. I put a tube in my ditch (75') & filled it in..easy to mow…check with your county..the permit was free..I paid $7800 ..to have this done…cheaper for you to get dirt from your dad…

  9. PG here. Patriot Gallery. Just ideas as you walked around. I am not offended if you do not like my idea. Our neighbors across the street have a flat front yard. Years ago, the original owners put a big drainage pipe in their ditch and covered it with soil. Now all they have to do is mow the lawn where the ditch is. Our ditches are as deep and wide as yours, and they are a pain to weed-wack or mow. The township put one in on our corner, but it is only partial. If I had a choice, I would fill in the whol ditch with drainage hidden underground. Huge relief when you don't have time. I would suggest that. Second, I saw you wrote to walk over the bridge for the creek. On the Free side? The bridge is a must. Footbridge? I googled it. There are tons of examples. We have a few, but our creek is manmade for drainage and isn't even 6 feet wide. You'll love it. But with that last flood, you had cement something much more solid that would last hundreds of years. That would take drilling into the sides like they do when building a bridge. We hand-made our bridges they are movable. Copy the wall for the dye factory building. I forgot what you called it. Something about dying material. I'm probably completely wrong. The walls have stood the test of time. I love the terrace off the back deck. What about using those huge boulders in the landscaping?

  10. Hi Abby , please please please rethink putting vines next to the house. you've done so much work to make it beautiful and any vines that attach to the house will damage it. you have some great ideas . can't wait to see you fulfill them. Happy Easter to you and your family.

  11. What about a patio around the front of bay window by using pavers or bricks – then putting a stone birdbath in the center where kitty's could see birds from window taking a dip. It would be close to the bird feeder also. Shrubs could become a hassle so close to the house. If you went with the patio and bird bath, you could always use the large planter pots with plants in them on the patio on either side of the front bay window. Just a thought.

  12. Suggestion – the space between the porch and bay window – I'd make that a rock garden. Gather up some large and medium ones from your property, place them to look interesting and finish with some smaller stones. Put down a weed block 1st to keep it more maintenance free.

  13. I would dig the ditch half a meter deeper for rainwater drainage, so 1.5 feet. In the Netherlands, they are certainly 3 feet deep.

  14. Hey Abby, love your ideas of your home this year. Have you thought about extending your roof line for a covered patio? And also, what about creating a trash bin "garage"? Just thought of those things as your were walking around. Thanks for bringing us along.

  15. Looking forward to the new projects you have in mind, coming into reality over the months ahead!

The thing that will drive you into and through it Abby is, enthusiasm! So set out you agenda schedule with their relevant heading and detailed descriptions below. Eg.
    General clean up!
    – Ditch + details
    – Front Lawn + details
    – Side Lawns + details
    – Back Yard + details.

    New Construction.
    – Ditch + detail of construction and local authority boundaries regulations.
    – Back Yard + Photo & sketches of your vision upon completion.
    – etc.

You can develop this activity schedule into any extent of detail you feel it requires.

    Just some thoughts Abby.

  16. Maybe consider bringing a stone patio from the porch step? The walk from the drive. I mean, you have a lot of stone.

  17. β€β€β€β€β€πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

  18. Not sure how much extra work it would be but I've watched your dad remove many rocks from his fields. I don't know if they would be the size you are looking for….but they would be free. Hate to see you spend money if your dad's rocks would work…..just a thought.
    Happy Easter

  19. Don’t paint the foundation! It looks good black and if painted white, it will peel off that sealnt and it will always look dirty.

  20. I live on two and a half acres of woods and every spring my kids would hear those dreaded words "get outside and pick up sticks!"

  21. Water your new little trees right away. Put some sunflowers in front of your white shed. Maybe another window box on your bay window to the right of the one that’s there.

  22. Build a nice BIGGarage for your Mazda. Then you could have lots of storage in side the garage to.
There’s some really cool garage plans out there that can go wth the style of your house.

  23. Reconsider keeping at least one trailer/wagon for limb removal. When it’s time to pick up limbs, I currently use a tarp to drag them from our property, not fun. My next purchase will be a cart or wagon.
Love the patio and deck plans.😊

  24. Garbage stand at the beginning of your driveway! A nice one with a roof. Easier to take it to the street and you get it away from the house! Thanks for the video!❀❀❀

  25. Check out the snail roll or seed roll method for sweet pea starts. The Blossom and Branch Farm puts out excelland info on starting sweet pea seeds between paper towels. Keep them moist and in the dark for about 3 days. When the good seeds sprout i do the snail method instead of her soil block method. Last year i had so many starts i gave a lot away. Sweet peas hate their roots disturbed. If your plastic roll is 5-6" wide the long roots do better in this roll than a soil block.

  26. Don’t paint the cinder block white. When it rains it gets splashed with mud and looks awful. You have tons of stones. Consider facing the cinderblock with stone to match the old foundation. Mortar is cheap and I know you’ll have fun learning a new skill.😊

  27. I'd use boxwoods and hydrangeas in the front around your bay window and repeat this on the side of your house.
