Was gifted this poor looking San Pedro. I don’t know anything about caring for cacti, but would love to harvest for medicine one day if possible. Should I remove pups, and or cut the main trunk underneath the skinny part? I would imagine it could fold one day when it becomes more top heavy.

It needs sunlight and nitrogen
It depends on what you eventually want. Many more plants? Remove the pups and replant. Perhaps cut the big one, graft, and also encourage more pupping. Or keep it as is and grow a phat mother stand.
Maybe some more light, and some good feedings would help. Lookin’ pretty alright overall. Congrats on your score! Grow well and have fun 😎
Absolutely. This is a full sun plant. Looks like a lack of sunlight er a pH/feed issue. With containered plants if your pH drops outta range the plant is no longer able to uptake nutrients and this yellowing will occur. If it’s not pH, slowly adjusting to a full sun environment with a proper feed she should be back to healthy in no time.
Looks ok to me. I would probably repot it to something larger in some high quality soil and get it some more sunlight but if its been inside its best to adjust it to full sun slowly. I really like fox farms ocean forest soil mixed 50/50 w perlite.
I made the same mistake before — too much organic soil. Cacti do much better in a gritty, fast-draining mix instead of regular potting soil.
Get yourself one of the less spendy non-PC ones from over here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/sanpedrocactusforsale/](https://www.reddit.com/r/sanpedrocactusforsale/)
No need for a spendy named clone one for your first, there’s often rad combo boxes or crosses that dont have their own name for great prices and 100% top quality.
Put it outside and pee on it
Pee pee time

This must have been an indoor plant. Good new is they’re super resilient and there is plenty of perfect advice in this thread: Sun/nitrogen/better draining soil. If it doesn’t freeze where you live you’re going to have a hard time killing them.
