Bought this poor thing at a farmers market who had seen better days for basically nothing, sitting in a 4 inch pot of miracle grow, repotted to save it. Sat mostly dormant through winter then woke up. The “bad” side is the one facing the sun indoors, about 7 hours of direct sun a day.

Save the babies? Let it grow? What would you genuinely do? I’d love to use this as a test subject and learn. I’ll do exactly what is most suggested and post results.

personally id let them grow more before cutting them off

Just let the whole thing ride. If it’s growing pups it’s doing good. They’ll also grow a lot better attached to the main cactus than they would chopped off.

    I concur with Mr./Ms. SausageFingers!

Yep, I would let ‘er ride. Pushing out new pups is a great sign. More sun would be helpful as well to avoid etiolation.

I wouldn’t cut anything for 1-2 grow seasons at least get to know her name first 😅😜

If you’re worried about complications with the 2 pups, there’s nothing to worry about, plants are aware of their surroundings.

I too struggle with this sense of vulnerability like my babies will suddenly die for no reason.

The hardest part is trusting that the cacti do in fact got this.
