BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) – Organizers announced plans Monday for this year’s Gift Gardens, a community garden program that donates fresh produce to local food pantries.
The River Bend Food Bank, Extension Service and Tapestry Farms have joined forces to create the program, which invites local gardeners to grow food for the community.
At a news conference, organizers explained how residents can participate.
“Everyone is welcome to join us, you’ll get resources sent to you. You’ll get invitations to training programs you will get a list of pantries where you can take the produce you grow,” an organizer said.
Anyone interested in joining the Gift Gardens program can sign up online.
