In general the parts of the plant that has already been exposed and acclimated to being above ground shouldn’t be buried again since they can start to rot.
If you’re patient the parts that are under ground now, will grow larger and thicker than the above ground parts and you’ll end up with some really nice taper that you wouldn’t have if all of it was grown under ground.
