I went walking my acreage to check on all my new and transplanted trees and came across this!! I remember seeing one hanging out in the grass last year but there were 3 significant patches this year.
Please tell me this is native cinqfoil and not the invasive European one 🥺 or at least how to tell the difference? I will transplant it so my husband doesn't mow it if it is!!

Where it was found? But yea, it looks like a sulphir cinquefoil.
I found this guide – seemed useful. It looks to me like native from the guide, but I don’t know this plant at all. https://bplant.org/compare/1180-22978
A lupin?

That’s not the growth pattern of Cannabis. It’s much more like Lupinus. But lupines are not serrated like that, so maybe a hybrid or lupine lookalike.
Definitely some cinqfoil or other.
Picture this suggests this is Potentilla recta, considered a weed by many.
Where are you? I have Potentilla canadensis growing in a field where nothing else will grow but it’s much smaller than this. Apparently that species (native to me) loves sun and shitty soil.
shoot. so it’s not weed? lol
Looks like sulphur cinquefoil, Potentilla recta. Which if you’re in the United States is invasive.
