My garden list for this planter says gourds and cucumbers but I’m not sure what variety this is meant to be.

It was grown from seed so not sure location will help but central NSW.

Yum – time to reach for the Southeast Asian and Caribbean cook books!

Once you master the cooking of these you will be buying them from the Asian grocers!

Bitter melon, incredibly delicious but a bit of an acquired taste

  4. It’s definitely bitter gourd/melon. As the name suggests it’s bitter but is highly nutritious. I have grown them as well and this season it fruited in abundance.

Indian bitter melon. It’s an acquired taste and chances are you won’t like it the first few times. I’d get rid of it unless you feel like experimenting because the vine will take over everything.

It’s my favourite, Here is a recipe if you want to try it…. https://youtube.com/shorts/5N0_CHdvfL0?si=LhjepfCv83UmHtdm

It’s normally $10/kg at the Asian shops in season.
