Some of my plants have dried up lately and I have no idea why only some plants have become like this. Could this be due to fertiliser deficiency? I have not added any fertiliser to those plants.

UPDATE:

Just ripped off the grass as suggested. I do not see any ringbarking. Have added fertiliser. Lets see.

It’ll help if we can get some closer pictures of the leaves and stems to identify the plants. They look like a type of buxus but I can’t be sure. If so, they do benefit from regular fertilising every couple weeks in spring and summer.

Another issue here is the grass growing directly under and around them, I’d recommend ripping all that out at least as far as the diameter of the shrub, as it competes with the shrubs for nutrients and light, and constricts the airflow leading to better environment for pests.

Also, do you whipper snip? If you’re edging the grass around these plants you could accidently be damaging them or ‘ringbarking’ which will lead to death if there is anought damage that the plant cannot uptake nutrients.

Not fertiliser damage, perhaps whippersnipper damage
