After yesterday’s post, it sounds like quite a few of you have gone to war with Asparagus Fern (the weed) 😅, and you're right – definitely don't eat that one.

However if you grow edible asparagus, it looks similar! You are meant to let the thinner spears grow out into fern, then die back, which helps the spears come back thicker next season.

The fern from edible asparagus is much softer and finer (like dill) and it doesn’t have any thorns.

Here’s my 6-year old plant growing out it's thinner spears.

If you have asparagus in your garden, put the flamethrower away and check, it could be edible!

  1. That’s 100% asparagus fern, you should probably just burn your whole house down.

Asparagus fern. Will take over everything and you can’t kill it with a stick. Rip it out now and ensure to get the roots system.
    Pfffffft! ‘Edible asparagus’.

Yeah ur good. No thorns, slightly lighter green foliage and the way ur plant is shooting up instead of out in search of a post to climb means ur not dealing with asparagus fern -or “Devil vine”, as I have come to it know it as.

Still! Devil vine is so damn evil that I would still torch ur edible supernutrient plant just to be sure.
