I went through a pretty severe depressive stage and neglected this baby for a year. Barely watered it and barely got the sun it needed. I am back and better than ever and I’m starting to bring these back to life.
Do I need to chop all of these long branches and replant or should I just let it grow the way it is?

Man I butcher plants like this for fun. You get those elong sections of stem with roots all over them and lay them flat on the soil. Bury em a little bit. Cut sections and plant them like a stem. Its gonna look so tacky and your not gonna be proud of it. But come fall all those stems will make 100s of rossettes and its really really pretty. Just get it outside somewhere it can get some sun and some fresh rain water occasionally. I have some pictures somewhere where I can show you the ugly process. Its therapeutic honestly. And the end results make it feel like it was worth it.

The fuller looking one looked like the tacky looking one a year ago. I keep doing this and I have more plants than I can give away.
If the plant is actively dying take those sections with roots and plant them, if its still kicking and just looks sad give it proper care and time. We had the same issue since our old apartment didnt get enough light but the plant was still alive when we moved and is starting to look a lot better
Yes, good idea to chop and prop into fresh gritty soil in bright indirect light until cuttings form roots and then you can water and start gradually introducing to more and more light.

When you cut the stems it makes new rossettes, this is the end of feb. The next picture is from just now

Chop and prop! This plant is perfect for ot
I would chop and prop, replant, etc. I have the same plant (donkey’s/burrow tail—I’m not sure which is which.) My leaves have done amazing under a grow light.
So glad you’re feeling better. Good luck with your planting 🌱🌵🌱
