I don't know what this hideout time bomb is that the previous owners left me, but Ive been digging it up for a year now. it'll pop up 20m+ from any other growths, I feel like I have a daemonic leviathan living under my backyard. it has killed several trees, including in the neighbours, and suspected of murdering others. It has in fact found its way to the opposite side of my neighbour's place, despite his best efforts.

anyone know how to get rid of it?

Looks very similar to the passionflower vine i had to deal with at a rental i was living in a couple years back.

I never managed to get rid of it because it was growing right on the fenceline i share with two different neighbours so we would clear out what we could see on our side but it would start creeping back over from one neighbour or another. It murdered a previously very healthy rosemary bush and almost killed a well established lavender bush.

We never tried any poisons because of pets and toddlers so I’m not sure what advice to give.

Looks like blue passionflower vine (Passiflora caerulea), which is commonly used as rootstock for edible passionfruit. It’s an environmental weed in Vic and NSW.

If there’s a lot, you can remove it manually (by hand or slash it etc) then follow up with herbicide on any new growth. Other methods will also help depending on the severity.
